A pre-Broadway run of the musical was scheduled in 2019 at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre, which was delayed till spring 2020. As the pandemic hit the world and the theatres were closed, the producers decided to cancel running the pre-Broadway musical run in Chicago.
After the Covid-19 restrictions were eased, the world premiere for the musical finally took place in December 2021 at the Shakespeare Theatre Company and got extended to January 9, 2022, due to excessive demand.
