Vladimir Putin Oversees Russia’s First Nuclear Exercise Since Ukraine War

The strategic nuclear forces of Russia conducted annual exercises, which the president had overseen, at a time when the Russia-Ukraine war crossed eight months, increasing conflict with the Western countries constantly.

Kremlin informed that the nuclear forces launched cruise and ballistic missiles from the Russian Far East. They had to inform the US about the exercise per the New Start arms agreement, and Moscow had notified the USA that the nuclear exercises would have complied with the arms control obligations.

    Russia’s claims

Russia recently claimed that Ukraine was planning to use a bomb against it which contains radioactive material, and the Western nations rejected the claim stating it as false.

Ukrainian officials warned that Moscow could launch an attack, and the claim indicates that.

The last nuclear drill by Russia took place five days before it attacked Ukraine.

On the other hand, NATO is staging a nuclear exercise of its own in the north-western parts of Europe.

Moscow recently sent troops to Kherson, the Ukrainian city it took at the early stage of the war, for defense.

    The missiles and Vladimir Putin

A Sineva missile was launched from the Russian Far East’s Kura site, a remote one, and Yars inter-continental missile was launched from the north of Moscow. Both were ballistic missiles and reached the targets, said Kremlin.

Vladimir Putin watched a video feed showing the missile launch and gave his remarks via video conference to intelligence services. He was also heard alleging Ukraine plotting a dirty bomb at the conference.

    Russia in pressure

Russian troops have been under pressure in Ukraine recently, and Moscow officials, including Putin, have been heard to talk a lot about destructive weapons and warning Ukraine in several ways. US president Joe Biden expressed his concerns about Putin’s warning regarding the use of nuclear weapons.
