The price of the tickets for the World Series is continuing to be more expensive. The average cost of Game 3, 4, and 5 tickets is nearly $3,000, the second-highest World Series ticket price in recent years.
Although the sale of tickets on StubHub for the baseball tournament doubled this week, the prices keep increasing.
The Excitement
StubHub said that the excitement for the game has already touched the roof in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Phillies will play its first home game on the day of Halloween, and the ticket price for the game on Wednesday was between $900 and $10,000.
According to StubHub, the interest may have grown further because the Phillies are playing the World Series after a decade. They assumed that the prices could reach even higher if the team won one or two games.
The prices for Game 5 tickets reached up to $22,000. But some fans are so excited that they are ready to buy tickets without worrying about costs.
The Lottery
The Phillies held the first ticket lottery on Wednesday. Fans were asked to sign up to enter the drawing by Tuesday midnight. Winners got notifications via email on Wednesday morning that they would be able to buy tickets. They had to decide whether to buy the tickets by midnight, as another round of notifications would be sent to participants until all tickets were bought. The fans who won the lottery got the tickets paying only $100-$200.
Twenty thousand tickets will be sold for three home games, whereas more than one million fans participated in the lottery.
The Tournament
The best-of-seven World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies, the champions of the National League, and Houston Astros, the champions of the American League, starts October 28 and ends in November. The 2022 season will be the 118th edition of the series.
