Tech Major Apple Inc. released a new range of devices with one new surprise beyond the technical ones. The company did not raise the price of the latest models in the US when the country faced its worst inflation in decades.
The launch, dubbed “Far Out,” is the most significant product unveiling of the iPhone 14, an upgraded Apple watch, and new Air Pods Pro Earbuds.
The new iPhone 14 retains the overlook of the earlier version while adding the much-anticipated satellite messaging feature and camera upgrades. The higher version of iPhone 14 has a new interface known as Dynamic Island.
Apple’s new approach to offering new features and lack of price hike is to ward off competition from Samsung and other smartphone makers. In the US, half of the smartphone sales are from Apple, and the company wants to build on these gains.
Shares of Apple Inc rose to $155.96, up 1 % in New York after the presentation of the new product. However, the stocks are still down 12 % this year.
The maximum upgrades are in the higher-end models. These devices have a 49-megapixel camera and screen that stays in low power mode, similar to Apple watch new version. The new features include widgets on calendar appointments, weather, and stock tickers.
The standard model of the new iPhone 14 is similar to the earlier model iPhone 13. However, it has discarded the mini version and introduced a model with a 6.7-inch larger display.
Enhanced Features
The improved camera includes a new video Action mode that allows shots to be stabilized. The device has discarded the physical sim card and uses the eSIM.
The iPhone 14 has a car crash detection feature similar to the new Apple Watch. The price of a standard iPhone 14 will cost $799, and the shipment is expected to commence on September 16. The plus version is coming out on October 7 at $ 899, the Pro model at $ 999, and the Pro Max model costing $1 099. Despite an annual inflation rate of 8.5% in July, the prices of the new iPhone have remained largely unchanged.
Users will be able to send SOS messages without having a cellular connection from the new satellite service. Bloomberg reported about this feature last year.
The carrier partners have received many promotions, including discounts and free phone offers. Analysts are predicting price increases in the future, but Apple has used subtler ways to upsell models to more customers by cleverly offering the new features with Pro and higher-end models.
In the presentation, CEO Tim Cook said that Apple was constantly raising the bar and making it better by challenging itself.
Ascent of iPhone
According to Insider Intelligence, Apple is expected to command a market share of 49% in the smartphone segment in the US this year and touch 50% by 2024. The company has also made inroads in the Android system primarily used by rivals Samsung.
