Mistakes To Avoid When Choosing Trophies

Awards and medals are an incredible way to recognize talent. This recognition can motivate the recipient of the award and those witnessing the special occasion. Awards constantly remind the recipient that hard work pays and represent special moments. Due to their significance, the last thing you would want when acknowledging an achievement is to reduce the value of the award or medal with an error.

Here are mistakes to avoid while choosing an award.

    Damaged or broken awards

Although it’s rare for an award to get damaged during shipping, it can happen. Failing to open the reward before the date of the occasion can be a big mistake. Thus, order the prize early, and ensure it arrives a week before handing it out.

Consequently, you’ll have enough time to inspect the box and ensure the award is in top condition. If it happens to be damaged or broken, you’ll have enough time to ask for a replacement.

    Misspelled words or Names

Nothing is embarrassing than having the recipient’s name written on the award, only to realize you misspelled it. By the time you notice, it could be pretty late to correct it, so we recommend you double-check the spelling of each name and the writing on all awards. This way, you’ll catch errors before placing the order. Check every award once the order arrives to ensure all the names and writings are correctly spelled.

    Too many words

Avoid wordiness. You don’t have to tell a whole story behind the recognition on the trophies. Keep the content of your reward as brief and straightforward as possible. For example, “Best Salesperson for 2021” will do the trick. If you want a much longer text, consider buying a wall plaque or any other award with ample space for your entire text.

Failing to match the award with the achievement

Consider the achievement you want to celebrate and select an award that matches. You want to ensure that you give out a trophy the recipient would feel proud of and want to show off to his friends, workmates, or family. You do not wish to give football trophies to a baseball team. When selecting the award, carefully consider the reason behind it.

    Tacky or cheap awards

A trophy needs to be unique as the recognition lasts a lifetime. Awards instill a sense of excellence and admiration. Don’t reduce their worth by choosing the cheapest route. In most cases, the recipients enjoy receiving the awards because of the moment of success, not for the monetary value.

Invest in awards made of high-quality materials. The recipient will cherish a high-quality prize for years to come. If you’re unsure of the prize to choose, always settle for a classic design; it doesn’t fail to impress.

    Trophy Weight

The weight of the trophy matters, and it sends a message to the recipient concerning your appreciation for their attainment. While purchasing the trophy, ensure it will not look or feel like a kid’s toy when handed over to the recipient’s hand.

Equally important, ensure it won’t be too heavy to lift. However, a heavy trophy presents the reward as thoughtful and implies that you value the recipient.

    Trophy Size

The trophy size will help differentiate between the winners’ results. For example, if there are 3rd, 2nd, and 1st places, the awards must vary in size to represent each result.

    The Recipients’ Age

When choosing an award, always keep the recipient’s age in mind. If you’re rewarding children, choose age-appropriate awards that are tiny enough for them to lift and enjoy. As for adults, consider comparatively big Trophies.

    Giving children glass awards

While glass awards are eye-catching and ideal for adults, they are unsafe for children. Children can be clumsy, and you know what happens when glass is dropped. Ensure children’s safety by giving them wooden or acrylic rewards instead.

    Poor Presentation

The worst mistake you can make when giving an award is failing to present the prize to the winner officially, and simply handing them a wrapped gift loses the impact and significance of their achievement. Organize a ceremony where everyone can attend and enjoy.

    Design and Color

Consider the color you choose when buying a trophy. The color should blend with the event, and it shouldn’t be too dark as it will get highlighted, nor should it be too light because the engraved writing will become invisible.

Awards are a perfect idea, particularly when considering all the factors to ensure everything runs smoothly. Correct spelling, minimal text, matching it to the proper attainment, choosing high-quality materials, and ensuring the reward is in top condition are essential. Also, you must ensure you buy from a reputable shop to ensure you select the best award.
