Launched as a fashion store for the affluent in 1976, Flannels, a menswear store in the UK, has now become a luxury retailer for men, women, and children. From its first location at Knutsford, Cheshire, today, the retailer has more than 50 locations across the United Kingdom. The stores flaunt all leading brands, from Armani to Gucci, Versace to Burberry, and more. The range of products includes ready-to-wear, footwear, and accessories, and the latest addition is the beauty and junior collections. Those curious to know who owns flannels should know that the Frasers group is the current owner of the British Multi-brand retailer founded by Neil Prosser. Until the Fraser Group took over the retail chain in 2017, Neil Prosser was the Managing Director.
What You Can Find at Flannels
British fashion seekers with deep pockets searching for the latest offerings in clothing for men, women, and children, which includes underwear, shoes, jackets, bags, accessories, and beauty products from world-famous brands, throng the flannels outlets. Stocks of designer brands create the most impressive portfolio of the stores, including Flannels Manchester and several others across the length and breadth of the British Isles.
Creating Next-Generation Stores
The business was profitable only when Frasers Group took over the retail chain. The takeover was a turning point in the history of the high-end retail chain for fashion and accessories as the new owners realized the need to revamp the stores and make them more contemporary. While brands are essential, their presentation by retailers plays a crucial role in doing good business and increasing profits. With that in mind, the Frasers Group set out on a mission to set a new standard for luxury by launching new stores in the fashion chain despite the downturn caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In 2020, the management decided to open 15 new stores by 2025, which is very much on track. The new stores include the conversion of the House of Fraser in Sheffield’s Meadowhall Shopping Center and an Owen Departmental store in Liverpool. In addition, a new site was planned, the Fosse Park shopping center in Leicester.
To meet the new generation’s expectations, the store in Liverpool will include a rooftop restaurant, a fitness studio, and a beauty hall. The stores in Leicester and Sheffield will be twice the size of the flagship store at London’s Oxford Street and cover more than 30,000 square feet.
Modern, agile retail spaces allow the new generation to relax and soak in the ambiance while shopping for their favorite brands.
Success Breeds Success
The range of products includes luxury streetwear such as Stone Island sweatshirts priced at £220 and Balenciaga trainers costing more than £500. However, the long-term expansion goals of Frasers Group proved a great success as within four years, the number of Flannels stores when up to 40 from just 12.
The high risk that the management took during the most difficult times in 2020 was a gamble that paid off well. Flannels is expected to reach higher in coming years with their new fashion line and products.
