In the city’s Artemivsk neighbourhood, the Bakhmut Secondary School is one of the destroyed educational facilities. We can make out a drugstore to the right of the bombed-out school.
The most recent satellite picture reveals severe damage to adjacent Artemivsk educational facilities, including Bakhmut Industrial Fakhovvy College and the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics.
Despite its symbolic significance, the terrible destruction of Bakhmut may have at least some strategic value for Ukraine, according to some observers. Even if the Wagner Group did not prioritise the city before it became a focus, the extended conflict might divert Russian resources from other goals.
