Find a topic you are passionate about and know the audience you are trying to attract, then run with it. Become a subject matter expert, speak confidently and find those inspirations in your content and messaging.” – This is Matt Scheitle’s advice for the rising and passionate individuals who want to be influencers.

Matt Scheitle is the co-founder of The Enablement Squad, a free slack-based community where professionals can come together and share various ideas and collaborate. This company is a trailblazer in this field and doing new things, and each of their latest methods or programs is quite influential to different day-to-day jobs.

In this interview with Business Upside, Matt Scheitle talks about his entrepreneurship journey with The Enablement Squad. He also shares his struggles, experience, scheduling posting-related tasks, connecting with followers offline, influencer marketing, future plan, success, and message for his followers.

    Edited excerpt of the interview:

Business Upside [BU]: Tell us how you started this influencer journey and what are the struggles you have faced?

Matt Scheitle [MS]: I started this journey with some severe imposter syndrome. I never thought that what I was doing or going to do would ever amount to anything significant in my field. When I met my mentor and now one of my closest colleagues, she told me one thing “What you post is relevant for you now and those that are on the same journey as you.”

That’s when I started my podcast, interviewing stakeholders that whom Enablement professionals typically interact. Then I knew I needed more, and that’s when my mentor and I co-founded The Enablement Squad, a free slack-based community where professionals could come together and share ideas and collaborate.

I then found that I was so new to so many methods and ideologies that how could I continue providing impact to my community. That’s when I started mentoring others and continuing to be mentored by several others. I quickly began to build my community of professionals that could, day in and day out, teach me new things and challenge me.

[BU]: What was your experience in the initial days?

[MS]: At first, my posts and content seemed bare-bones. Each interview had the same questions, didn’t adapt to the interviewee, and didn’t allow for creativity. I can say as the years went on – I researched my topics more and curated more relevant content.

[BU]: How do you schedule your posting-related tasks?

[MS]: I schedule my content based on the trends of our market, but once I have a thought, I’ll type it out and build out my posts using the app called Buffer. It has helped me just organize my thoughts and not worry about missing my deadlines.

[BU]: What would be your action if your uploads were unfairly deleted?

[MS]: I would dive into why it was deleted and pivot my content to fit community guidelines while still providing the initial impact I wanted. Some battles are worth fighting, but others are easy enough to regroup and pivot.

[BU]: Do you ever feel like connecting your followers offline?

[MS]: 100% – I’m such an extrovert. I think it’s an intimate way to get to know whose lives you are impacting or influencing. It helps bring new light to the content that you create.

[BU]: What’s your advice to those who want to be an influencer?

My advice for those wanting to be an influencer is to find a topic you are passionate about and know the audience you are trying to attract, then run with it. Become a subject matter expert, speak confidently and find those inspirations in your content and messaging.

[BU]: You influence many people, but who or what influences you the most?

[MS]: I have so many people who influence me! I think that’s the great thing about the Enablement Community. We all are trailblazers in our field and doing new things, and each of these new methods or exciting programs is influential to our daily jobs.

[BU]: How do you foster cohesion within a large audience?

[MS]: I think again, knowing who your audience is and what they are after is what can foster cohesion. Giving them something new, innovative, and exciting brings those audiences to ask questions, challenge their ideas, and improve their thought process.

[BU]: Which other social media influencers do you collaborate with?

[MS]: I don’t typically collaborate with major influences in the Social Media space, but I totally would be open to any.

[BU]: What is your future plan?

[MS]: It’s hard to pinpoint where I go next as Sales is constantly changing, but I’m eager to see what the future holds. One thing I know for sure is I want to be a sounding board for those coming into the Enablement field and influence their careers!

[BU]: How do you define success?

[MS]: Success is what you make of it – I think if I can influence one person’s career, then I have done my job. If I continue to post relevant content that serves a higher purpose, then I find success to be easily achieved.

[BU]: Any message for your followers?

[MS]: Never underestimate the power of your voice. Everyone has a story that someone can relate to. Be courageous and shout your success, your failures, and your learning. Every person experiences the same event differently, and perspective is what helps create new thoughts and provoke excellent connections.
