Avatar lead actor Zoe Saldana reveals that she was pretty uncertain about the film’s outlandish concept at the time of auditioning for Neytiri, the main Na’vi character’s role. Saldana shares that initially, her concept widely included “Alita: Battle Angel” along with a considerable amount of gymnastics and unfamiliar clicking noises.
Saldana didn’t Think it Makes Sense
While Saldana takes you back to 2009 when the blockbuster hit made the world enter a new era of sci-fi that was never imagined before, it’s time for you to beam with joy like 2009 as well. A new Avatar movie is actually hitting the theaters in just a few weeks. Yes, many of us can’t believe this because we have long longed for it and witnessed one after another delay in releasing a sequel to the series.
How was the Initial Experience?
On this occasion, Zoe Saldana, before returning to the Avatar series, narrated her first impressions of the unknown story by James Cameron on “The Tonight Show,” where she appeared with Jimmy Fallon.
Saldana said the filmmaker couldn’t pitch his vision, leading to her idea of the film to be similar to “Alita: Battle Angel.” Soon when she thought of it set in the jungle, she was confused enough to consider that the movie wasn’t actually making any sense. Additionally, all the stuff with a blue extraterrestrial, long tail and bizarre-looking ears sounded sillier to her.
The ‘Weird’ Auditions
The audition process also seemed quite weird to her, added Saldana. She was told to climb, do cartwheels, and even make peculiar sounds. Eventually, the lead actor learned to trust Cameron and the casting director that they weren’t making her look funny or strange.
Finally, She’s a Part of the Franchise
Finally, she managed to perform her part of the highly challenging task of creating a new world out of nothing. The Avatar sequel hits the theaters on December 16, 2022.
