The court of Wimbledon must be well familiar with the face of Roger Federer, but unfortunately, not the security staff.
What happened with Roger Federer?
While appearing on The Daily Show, the twenty times grand slam champion revealed that he was stopped initially last month at the entrance of the All England Lawn Tennis Club or Wimbledon, as it is better known.
Turning up on the show hosted by Trevor Noah on Wednesday, the tennis legend who retired recently said he had some time in his hand after visiting a doctor’s chamber in London. He thought of spending hours cherishing memories of winning eight grand slam titles while enjoying tea in Wimbledon.
He reached the entrance gate through which guests arrive at the famous club and told his coach that he would talk to the lady in the security region.
The lady asked Roger Federer if he had a membership card, which he automatically possesses due to be a Wimbledon winner.
Roger said he wasn’t carrying a card with him, and he told the lady that he usually goes there to play. This was the first time he was there without any tournament being held. As the lady still didn’t seem convinced, Federer was like, “I have won this tournament eight times; please, believe me, I am a member.”
Did Federer finally have his tea at Wimbledon?
He finally had to go to another gate, where he was instantly given access to the club. The guard at the other gate was so pleasantly surprised to see Roger Federer that he arranged his entrance without any membership card.
