Will Keyword Matter for 2022? – A General Overview

    Introduction:

What are SEO keywords? When looking for information about keywords for SEO, one easily gets bombarded with information about keyword research. While keyword research is very important, it is easier to start with what a keyword means. It could be described as the word or a set of words on a page that describes the content on the page in its best possible way. It could be seen as a search term that one would want their page to rank for. So when people search for that particular keyword or a phrase containing that keyword, they should ideally find the page to that website. It is important to note that keyword does not necessarily mean it is one word, keywords often also consist of multiple words.

Why are Keywords for SEO important?

One of the things Google looks at is content. It is normally the words used on the web pages. Hypothetically, if every word on a blog post is used about two times, then almost every word seems to hold equal importance. Google will not have a clue on what words are important and what words are not. Since Google is content-driven, the words and keywords being used are the primary clues for google. They tell Google and other search engines what a particular page or post is about. So if one wants to make the keywords clear to google, they should use them fairly often. This is something known as the keyword density for a page. It determines what is the ratio of the number of times a keyword is used to the total number of words on that web page or post. Normally, the keyword density needs to be about as high as 2 percent for any web page or post or article or blog for it to be recognized well by Google.

But it must be mentioned that Google isn’t the only reason that keywords are important. it comes only second in importance because the target of the keyword should be the user, the visitors, and potential clients. SEO keyword tools normally help people to land on a website when they search for a certain search term or keyword. So one must get inside the heads of their target audience, to predict the keywords they are or could be searching for, and use them accordingly. If the wrong keywords are used, the page might never receive any visitors because the text does not match what the potential audience is searching for. But if the keywords people are searching for can be preempted and used beforehand, then the webpage or post can thrive in terms of landed audience. Therefore, the bottom line is that the keywords for SEO for any page should reflect what the users are searching for.

How to use Keywords for SEO in Pages and Posts? Is there an SEO Keywords List?

There used to be a time when one could add a lot of keywords to their pages and posts, something which was more popularly known as keyword stuffing. It helped one’s a web page to rank on the search engine because no matter what the target audience searched for, there was a high chance that the keyword had been already used in the post. This would typically include using a lot of generic terms in the article or blog post, which would come up in any search. But a text with a lot of the same keywords in it can get very annoying for the audience to read. As users have found these texts terrible to read, Google also finds them terrible. Therefore, the time when one could rank in Google with the help of keyword stuffing is obsolete. If the rules of thumb while using keywords be enlisted, it would go as follows:

    • Firstly, the content must be easy to read. Of course, the keywords in a text should be used but not in excess. It should be evenly distributed all over the text in a fair and rational amount.
    • Usually, a keyword density of one to two percent is fine, as mentioned earlier.
    • It is also important to make sure that the keywords are balanced throughout the text in different locations. This would mean that one should not typically exhaust all of their keywords in the first paragraph of the text itself, but instead. Mention it a few times throughout the article. It helps to use the keywords in subheadings, or a couple of subheadings, depending on the length of one’s page or post. It is also important that one uses the keyword in their page title, meta description, and the very first introducing paragraph of the page or post.

What are the different types of Keywords?

It is only obvious to imagine that some keywords receive more competition in search results, in comparison with the others. Keywords that only consist of one word are extremely common and generic and will probably face a lot of competition. These keywords are typically known as ‘head keywords’. While these keywords can probably generate a lot of traffic to any site because it is used by a lot of people in their search engines, they are also the toughest keywords to rank for. Another downside of focusing on head keywords is that it might not always reflect what the page is actually about. So while head keywords generate a lot of traffic, the chances that a particular page fits the visitor’s needs are smaller. Optimizing posts and pages for more specific keywords is essential as well. This is where the mid-tail and long-tail keywords come in. Mid-tail and long-tail keywords are more specific and less common because they focus more on a niche. The longer and more specific the search terms are, the easier it gets for them to rank on Google’s search engine. Therefore the strategy would normally be to start with a set of long-tail keywords which are longer and more specific, less common, and therefore experience less traffic and build one way up gradually. This would help garner not only a good amount of traffic for the website but also make sure that the audience form a niche in themselves that is adaptive to the content on one’s website.

    Conclusion:

A keyword is very important in digital marketing today. Huge amounts of keyword research go into any article or blog post that ranks on the initial few pages of Google search results. Since google witnesses such a huge lot of visitors regularly, the goal is to craft a well-thought-out keyword strategy accordingly.
