Tips to stay healthy when air pollution is all around due to wildfires

United States has been experiencing days of hazy sky due to wildfire smoke which further deteriorated the air quality.

Wildfires have become a common incident every year in the United States. More than nine million acres, 25,000 structures, 18,137 residences and 229 commercial structures were destroyed by more than 58,000 fires in the year 2018. California  has been accounted for the loss of highest number of structures in one state due to the significant  number of wildfires, including Carr, Camp, the Mendocino Complex, and Woolsey fires.

Historically, California sighted eight of the ten largest wildfires in the past decade. The huge August Complex on Sept,9 2020, has been recorded as the largest fire in the state’s history. This massive breakout of fire has burned a combined total of 794,801 acres.

The smoke releasing from these large fires into the air, covering cities in an orange haze. When the smoke settles close to the ground, it spreads harmful microscopic particles. These invisible granules, when inhaled, can enter the bloodstream and cause inflammation that affects many parts of the body.
