Showtime’s business anthology series Super Pumped, which premiered the first season titled ‘The Battle for Uber’ on February 27, 2022, has worked wonders for the creators. The series struck the right chord with the audience and generated the desired interest that helped gain the right momentum and rewarded the producers with the renewal of Season 2. According to the news announced during the ViacomCBS investor day presentation, each show’s season will focus on a significant story of different businesses in the business world. The first series of Super Pumped Showtime was about the rise of Uber, inspired by the book by Mike Isaac – ‘Super Pumped’ – The Battle for Uber. The story follows its former CEO and co-founder Travis Kalanick while depicting power struggles and internal politics that culminate in the eventual ousting of Kalanick from the organization.
Super pumped – a series dedicated to the Corporate World
Although there has not yet been a super pumped movie and only a television series, the creators drew inspiration for making the series from the 2010 movie The Social Network by director David Fincher. The film revolves around Mark Zuckerberg from the beginning to end, where he sees himself in the mirror and discovers that he is no more than an asshole. After a decade, the film’s judgment of Zuckerberg seems quite a mild epithet given the long list of controversies that embroiled the organization.
Super pumped Showtime is a televised anthology series created along similar lines to the movie about the Corporate World. Viewers could get a feel of it by viewing the super pumped trailer. The trailer carries snapshots chronicling the taxi-hailing app’s relentless trajectory, driving it towards unprecedented and widespread success. The trailer also encapsulates the subsequent public backlash and internal politics that resulted in Kalanick’s untimely departure from the organization.
A new business leader for each season
The television anthology series will feature a different business leader each season. The good news is that, before airing the first season, according to the super pumped release date slated for February 27, 2022, Showtime could bag a renewal for Season 2. The second season would focus on the relationship between Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook founder, and Sheryl Sandberg, the Chief Operating Officer of the social networking platform. The title of the series is likely to be Sheryl & Mark, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
The New York Times journalist Mike Isaac’s upcoming book about Facebook or Meta will be the source of the content for the series. It’s too early to guess about the casting as Showtime is yet to announce it, but it is safe to assume that the series will largely deviate from The Social Network’s movie.
The upcoming super pumped series on Facebook will not tow the movie because of the different timelines. The series will follow Sandberg, who was instrumental in building the massive Facebook Empire. As Sandberg joined Facebook in 2008, the series is set a little later than the movie. The same year, Facebook settled with the Winklevoss twins regarding the lawsuit.
