California police arrested the suspect in the abduction case of four members of a Sikh family. The police detained Jesus Manuel Salgado on Tuesday based on the versions of his family. The four kidnapped persons, including an eight-month-old baby, were found dead near Hutchinson Road and Indiana Road on Wednesday in a local orchard. The Sikh family originally belonged to Punjab and started living in California’s Merced recently as they started a trucking business.
The Heart-Wrenching Incident
Eight months old Aroohi Dheri and his parents, Jasdeep Singh and Jasleen Kaur, along with Jasdeep’s elder brother Amandeep Singh went missing on Monday. Surveillance footage was released on Thursday by the officials of Merced that showed the family being abducted at gunpoint from a building where the family’s trucking company was located. Their hands were tied and taken into a truck at gunpoint.
Police Investigation in the Case
Salgado was detained on Tuesday after his family informed the police about admitting the crime. He tried to take his life in police custody and was admitted to the hospital.
The police came to know about the incident while Amandeep’s abandoned car caught fire on Monday on a highway after the incident took place. The investigators reached the trucking company while looking for the car’s owner and found out the four persons were abducted.
The four bodies were discovered by a farm worker who informed the police. After the surveillance video came out, investigations progressed, resulting in Salgado’s arrest. The police personnel suspects that more people could be involved in the case apart from Salgado, and they are looking for others who might have been involved. The police also suspect that the four persons were killed soon after the kidnap.
About Salgado
Salgado has not committed a crime for the first time. He had been prisoned in 2007 for over a decade with more than one charge, including that of robbery.
