The NASDAQ – Future of Trading

The NASDAQ is a huge stock exchange platform that can give NYSE, the world’s largest stock exchange, tough competition on any given day. The NASDAQ stock market is currently the second-largest stock and security exchange in the world, only after NYSE. It is by far, according to volume, the hugest US equities exchange venue. The most interesting aspect of the NASDAQ is that all of its trades happen only via the internet and telephone through registered dealers.

The whole system is built upon very reliable INET technology. As it does not function in a physical location, all of its trades, orders, and quote updates are processed via computers instantaneously with an uptime of 99.99%. A close reading of NASDAQ futures can give you a vision of how NASDAQ integrates its main function with other value-added services and products. It provides the users with a hassle-free complete package for US equity trading.

The NASDAQ does a fair share of equity exchanges of information, tech, and other high growth-oriented businesses. You may trade in NYSE or other stock markets, but the only place where you can invest in high-growth blue-chip companies in the NASDAQ. A thorough inspection of the NASDAQ futures chart will give you a fair understanding of what type of business you can find on the NASDAQ to buy equities from. Get to Know the NASDAQ

The NASDAQ is a unique trading platform that has no physical floor for trading. All of its business is handled electronically via a network of computers that is fully automated. Digitizing the stock exchange market was NASDAQ’s mission from the beginning. Established in 1971, the NASDAQ was the world’s first fully automated electronic stock exchange market.

    Get to Know the NASDAQ

As the NASDAQ is a web-based stock market, it consists of the world’s largest blue-chip companies. The equities in which it deals have several hi-tech software, internet, technology, and computer companies, although day by day other growth-oriented companies are also selling their stocks on the NASDAQ. Some of the major names that you can find on NASDAQ 100 futures are Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Starbucks, Intel, Tesla, SpaceX, and Gilead Sciences. Compared to other exchanges, NASDAQ’s stocks are rockier as it consists of high growth-oriented businesses.

The NASDAQ futures are based on listed stocks as well as over-the-counter stocks. This enables it to become a great challenge for the NYSE, the world’s largest stock exchange. In the past, the NASDAQ has broken several records and achieved outstanding accomplishments many times. Not only was it the first electronically automated stock exchange, but it was also the first trading platform to launch a website, use cloud-based data storage, and the first to open the technology for other market’s use.

The NASDAQ bought the Stockholm-based regional exchange OMX ABO in 2008. The new brand, NASDAQ OMX Group, offers its customers derivatives, commodities, exchange-traded funds, and several structured products. The NASDAQ accommodates more than 3100 companies, worth more than $14 trillion. Originally named NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SECURITIES DEALERS AUTOMATED QUOTATIONS, the NASDAQ, is acutely followed by the world, especially through Nasdaq mini.

    The Functionality of the NASDAQ

    NASDAQ

Nasdaq works on a price/time priority model. It makes the platform user-friendly by making the logic straightforward and crystal clear for all participants. All the limit orders that are displayed are treated the same without exceptions or discriminations. They are executed on the premise of arrival. The orders that come first are treated first regardless of the price and priority. Thus the predictions from Nasdaq futures work in favour of everyone.

Some of the popular orders and functionality that this platform offers its customers are Midpoint Peg, Post Only Orders, and Minimum Quantity Orders. Self Match Prevention and Order

Modification Functionality is also a part of it. With these facilities, the NASDAQ has become a powerful suite of creative routing strategies. You can follow Nasdaq futures live for a better understanding of the market.

Some other types of orders that are also available here are On-Open-Orders, On-Open-Imbalance only orders, On-Close-Orders, Anonymous-Orders, Reserve, Pegging, Non-Display, etc.

    Nasdaq Trading Hours

The NASDAQ trades in strict market hours but also provides its customers with “pre-market” and “post-market” hours. The market hours for this platform are the same as the NYSE, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. Pre-market hours last from 4 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and post-market hours last from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET.

    Trading in the NASDAQ

After the establishment of the NASDAQ, it regularly provided Over-the-counter trading to all participants. It became so popular in Over-the-counter (OTC) trading that for quite some time it became the synonym for Over-the-counter trading. It was mainly called an OTC market in the media and trade publications. After this, it started focusing on automation of the service for transparency in business. It introduced the ultimate trading system that could automatically create trades and volume reports.

To trade successfully on the NASDAQ, Nasdaq futures are followed by the participants who deal with its electronic exchanges. All of these are done through dealers instead of indulging in auction-based direct transactions. The dealer-based exchanges, however, are not direct.

Every year the Listing Qualifications Department surveys global market listings and looks for possible candidates who can move up to this tier.
    • Global Market: Global Market tier is the mid-cap tier of the NASDAQ. It consists of U.S. and international companies that become eligible for this platform.
    • Capital Market: The last tier of Nasdaq’s market mainly lists small businesses of the U.S. and other countries in which the NASDAQ functions. Originally this tier was called the Small-cap tier until the NASDAQ changed its name.
