Lotus Eletre R
Lotus has already become a global icon in the world of sports cars, and it specializes in making light cars that are fun to drive. The latest one from the Geely-owned brand is something beyond an exotic sports car, and it’s not only an electric SUV but is packed with a mighty punch to match piston-engine CUV cars from BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes in speed. Lotus Eletre R has been unveiled Lotus, the fastest EV, along with two other models Eletre and Eletre S.
This new car is not the first EV from the sports car brand but the first vehicle from Lotus to be a five-door car. Lotus came with a significant shift with their Electric SUV 2022, and the latest model can go to 100km/h from 0km/h within three seconds.
The Launch
The launch of the new electric SUV models from Lotus was titled “Unleash the Future” when the company unveiled the car via live streaming. Matt Windle, the company’s managing director, and vice president, called it the next step for the iconic brand. He stated that the brand wants to offer a car to its customers at every stage of their lives, and the latest electric sports car is the first step towards this vision. He said this because Lotus Electric SUV 2022 is a two-seater car relatively uncommon for sports cars.
Features of Lotus Eletre R
Eletre and Eletre S models have single motors. The model which attracts most of the most attention is the Lotus Eletre R model with dual-motor. It is a top-of-the-range model with a high-performance engine. The capability of reaching 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds makes the car much like Tesla Model X Plaid with a tri-motor.
This electric SUV will feature Lotus Hyper OS, the newly launched software of the sports car brand.
The R model from Lotus Eletre electric cars features Track Mode to lower the ride height and sharpen anti-roll control and dampers. The feature also offers launch control so that one can instantly access the full power of the car and an active grille that is fully open. Once charged fully, the car covers 304 miles, and the 112-kWh battery gets up to eighty percent charge from just ten percent in twenty minutes. But you must give the last minutes for the battery to be charged, just as it happens in phones, to travel across a city all day long and get back home with the desired top speed.
Comparison with Other Cars
The Electric SUV 2022 from Lotus, having two electric motors have 985 Newton-meters of torque converting to 726 lb. ft. So, this model can be compared to Porsche Taycan Turbo S. The fastest EV has a motor of 225kw in its upfront and 450kw at its rear along with two-speed gearbox.
Sprinting up to 60 mph in three seconds is almost three-tenth off the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
In length, the car is fourteen inches greater than Jaguar I-PACE, a battery-electric car, and Porsche Macan.
The R version of the latest Lotus sports car is quicker to 60 mph than Jaguar and Macan, and the top speed of the car, 165, is higher than the two models from Jaguar and Porsche well.
Launching Plans
The three models are likely to reach the USA in late 2023, and due to being built in China, the energy issue that is going on in the EU and UK may not have any impact on the launch.
Variants of Lotus Eletre R, more mainstream ones, will be launched in mainland China soon, which is the primary vehicle market because it is home to Geely.
Impact on the American Market
Lotus Eletre R is likely to lead the way nowhere more than America as it can exploit the influence of car enthusiasts in the market who value the brand better than the broader population of the USA.
