The state’s top business watchdogs are looking into allegations over “A Drag Queen Christmas” event in Fort Lauderdale. It warned participants of adult themes and content and mandated parental supervision for minor attendees. Ron DeSantis Florida Governor is investigating the event for the 2nd attempt this year. It may have exposed kids to a sensually explicit performance. Both investigations began as responses to grievances that conservative activists on social media emphasized. The inquiries occur as Republicans around the nation condemn drag shows that feature performers of all genders donning lavish and even provocative outfits and performing scripted acts that incorporate music from well-known artists.
What does Ron DeSantis’ Administration Indicate?
Ron DeSantis Florida Governor has pledged to hold companies responsible for exposing minors to sensualized content. His administration has indicated future possible offenses, but none have yet been brought. He is generally considered to be contemplating a presidential bid in 2024. In a tweet on Tuesday, his spokesman Bryan Griffin stated that exposing children to sensually suggestive conduct is a crime in Florida. Certain actions breach the Department’s license criteria for running a company and maintaining a liquor license. The conservative site The Floridian was the first to obtain the information.

The Florida Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation has the authority to make arrests, is in charge of the investigation. However, Governor DeSantis office stated that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement could face potential illegal culpability due to the A Drag Queen Christmas event investigation. In his response, Griffin claimed that the occasion had been advertised to youngsters. Subsequently, he mentioned in an email that the traveling play has occasionally been advertised as suitable for all ages in locations throughout the state. According to a representative for the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, spectators were warned that the performance was intended for an older crowd.

Following the web archive, the performance arts center’s website promoting the event stated that admission was restricted to visitors who were 18 years of age or older unless a parent accompanied them. The center appeared to have changed that statement the days before the performance. The event was an all-ages show and may include explicit material, according to a form of the event page published on December 17. A representative for the musical theatre organization claimed that email warnings about the show’s adult themes were distributed to ticket buyers in advance of the event.

In this video shared on Twitter, conservative social media activist Chris Nelson can be heard yelling against kids attending the event approximately halfway through the show. As he was being led out of the venue by cops, Nelson remarked that it was not fair at all to organize drag shows with youngsters. He advised the authorities to detain them for bearing kids at the event. That person is the one you need to detain. Nelson’s tweet with the video has received over 2 million views.
What can be the Outcome?
The state might suffer a severe legal setback if they attempt to have the center’s liquor licenses revoked. The company possesses three such licenses, per state data. One license is wider and enables the intake of liquor. As stated on the center’s site, contributions to the non-profit Broward Performing Arts Foundation are a major source of funding for concerts at the performing arts center. Melanie Griffin, secretary of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, warned Miami’s James L. Knight Center event coordinators on Tuesday that they risk losing their liquor license if they permit children to participate in the drag show.
I like @GovRonDeSantis because he’s not afraid to stand up against the woke agenda that the left is pushing. He stood up against Disney & now he’s standing up against the sexualization of children at a Christmas Drag Queen event. God bless you Gov DeSantis!https://t.co/THoQxuBTnw
