Putin Warns to Cut off Oil and Gas Supply if Countries Cap Prices

Russia will stop supplying oil and gas to the countries imposing price caps, warns President Vladimir Putin. Some western countries plan to cap prices on energy products imported from Russia. Soon after Putin knew their intentions, he called it a stupid decision. The Russian President warned to cut off the energy supply to those countries.

Vladimir Putin said that they would not entertain anything contrary to their interests. He stated that his country always respects contractual obligations and expects other countries to do the same.

G7 countries, including America and Germany, decided to impose price caps on the import of energy from Russia. This vow directly connects with the Russia-Ukraine war, and those western countries don’t want to contribute to Russian funds used in the war.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has supported this initiative by the G7 countries. He said that this would directly reduce Russia’s earnings. Zelenskyy accused Russia of blackmailing the countries by artificially increasing oil prices.

But, Putin has warned those industrial powers that he will not deliver gas, coal, oil, or fuel if his economic interests are compromised. He has warned the countries to take a decision based on contractual rules.

The President has also said that Russia will not deliver anything that is not in the current contract. He made a statement that the decision taken by the western countries would lead to something socially dangerous.

Putin has suggested that western countries can subsidize high prices or reduce consumption. The first wouldn’t be a great idea, Putin advised, as it will not impact consumer behavior.

The Ukraine-Russia war started in February this year. Most western countries have supported Ukraine and criticized Putin’s policy.
