Paul Alex didn’t start his career as an automated teller machine (ATM) entrepreneur; he graduated from school with dreams of protecting his community through law enforcement. And he went on to work as a successful detective for many years before developing a side hustle related to ATMs.
He founded ATMTogether.com in January 2021 and left the law enforcement field to pursue his new passion for business. At that point, he had already built a five-figure income over five years of developing his ATM side hustle.
After becoming a full-time ATM entrepreneur, he realized he wanted to join a community of others in his field — but he quickly realized that no such community existed. So he started one online.
“I was not on social media for seven years but decided to create a Facebook profile to network with other ATM entrepreneurs in the United States. However, I quickly realized that there wasn’t a group or community where those interested or involved in the ATM business could join and share their experiences and tips with their peers and other like-minded individuals,” Paul Alex explained.
He began by creating the “ATM Business for Beginners” Facebook™️ group, which now has over 41,000 members worldwide. Founding this group provided him with much more than virtual colleagues and community. He quickly learned from the group’s members that there was no one-stop-shop to assist entrepreneurs in building their ATM businesses — but there was a need in the ATM market for location finder services.
Paul Alex built and launched the first ATM automation program to create an entire ATM business for anyone wanting to enter the ATM industry across the United States.
He christened his business ATMtogether.com as a tribute to the community he built and the teamwork he hoped to provide to aspiring entrepreneurs. Paul Alex has amassed over 1,300 clients in just a year and a half.

No two days are the same
“To be fully transparent, there is no typical day. The life of an entrepreneur is basically ‘controlled chaos.’ I find it more difficult being an entrepreneur than a detective investigating criminal cases,” he said.
One day he might walk new ATM automation clients through the onboarding process; another, he might brainstorm new sales strategies with his consultants. Of course, he also takes care of the company’s marketing, administration, and business development along with his Chief Operating Officer (COO), Gedam Yonas, and his employees.
Being a true leader
He thrives in the high-energy, dynamic, and ever-evolving field of entrepreneurship. With a team of seventeen employees and three managers, he’s learned the essential skills to motivate a team, inspire them, and keep everyone’s morale up even under challenging circumstances. “Your team will only work as hard as the leader they follow,” Paul Alex said.
He also needed to develop skills in himself that he now teaches to his employees. For example, techniques related to problem-solving and mindset development are two topics he regularly works on with his team daily.
When inspiration strikes
Nearly every entrepreneur talks about how they stay inspired, get their next great idea, and focus their creative energy. Paul Alex is no different and shared his favorite techniques for keeping ATMTogether.com moving forward.
“For me to stay disciplined and productive on a daily basis, I have several whiteboards in different rooms of my home. I also have a morning, afternoon, and evening checklist with different tasks that need to be completed daily,” he said.
To keep track of his priorities, he always focuses on tasks that will generate revenue, placing other items lower on his priority list. He says that marketing and client acquisition trump all other categories of tasks since they are the bread and butter of his business.
