Mike Tyson revealed his health condition to the fans after they got concerned about seeing him in a wheelchair. The former boxing champion has explained that he suffers from a rare problem named Sciatica. It is a condition when a person feels nerve irritation in his body. After the former world champion of heavyweight boxing was seen sitting in a wheelchair and having a stick, he explained that he is suffering nerve irritation most of the time, and sometimes it’s getting unbearable for him. To his fans’ relief, Tyson added that he is fine otherwise. He said he and his family are grateful for what they have.
About the Disease
Sciatica is a common problem for mid-edged people, especially those with back injuries. Mike Tyson had to say goodbye to boxing in 2005 because of his back injury. The nerve running from the lower back down to the feet is called sciatic. The problem generally stays for not more than six weeks, but sometimes it lasts long. Physiotherapy and medication are the ways to treat it.
Sciatica is not uncommon among the boxers, in any case. Anderson Silva and Cain Velasquez also suffered from it.
About Iron Mike
Tyson is known for living his life to the fullest. The fifty-six years old carried a dominating attitude all the time. But the back injury and drug problem concerned the fans about Iron Mike’s health. Even he said in his podcast that he saw signs that he would not live for long.
Tyson is the youngest boxer to become the world heavyweight winner. Tyson beat Trevor Bedrick back in 1986 to win the title at the age of twenty only, and that is still a record. After his retirement, Mike Tyson now runs a company named Tyson Ranch which sells cannabis products.
