Is Drinking Diet Soda Safe? What does Study Say?

    Drinking diet soda is no better for the heart than regular soda, and drinking it increases the risk of heart disease, a recent study has revealed. Artificial sweeteners may cause a stroke, and the diet versions of the beverages taste sugary as they contain sucralose, stevia, or aspartame. These artificial sweeteners enhance cardiovascular disease risk, which is twenty to thirty percent higher.

    People who want to stay fit shouldn’t drink diet soda or artificially sweetened drinks. The myth is that these sweeteners are a healthy substitute for natural sugar, and doctors disagree with it.

    This study is not the first one to prove this, in any case. Several studies found an association between diet or sugary drinks and heart disease. French researchers have found that people who drink beverages have a higher risk of heart disease and stroke. There’s no difference between people drinking regularly sweetened drinks and artificially sweetened drinks. The study report states that artificially sweetened drinks cause weight gain and diabetes. Doctors are familiar with premature deaths due to cardiovascular disease caused by diet or sugary drinks.

    The study report has been published in the latest US-based journal related to cardiology. The study includes data from more than one lakh participants. An online study in France records the diet chart, activity level, and other health records of the participants. This report is collected from the same study.

    People are consuming artificial and sugary drinks more in recent times. Some people started drinking diet beverages, gradually becoming aware of the harmfulness of sugary drinks. But they probably have no idea how injurious the diet drinks are. A study has shown that diet drinks are one of the top risk factors for heart disease. It is causing blood pressure levels and bad cholesterol to grow up, and these diseases invite heart problems. The drinks might be one of the causes behind the rise of childhood obesity.

    The doctors suggest that only water is the safest and healthiest beverage.
