According to Bloomberg News, Peterffy, who is worth $25 billion, believes that it is wise to possess 2% to 3% of your wealth in cryptocurrencies if fiat “goes to hell.”
Peterffy has some digital currencies himself and on seeing that people were urgently looking forward to trading Bitcoin, he suggested every customer should trade Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin Cash.
Of late, Peterffy, 77, has become the owner of Interactive Brokers Group Inc. He said his firm would extend the facility to trade in another 5 to 10 coins starting this month. According to him, it is quite possible that digital currencies could offer great returns.
His approach towards trading also indicates how the attitude of investors is shifting towards crypto compared to many that used to scorn or were apprehensive in using digital tokens earlier. However, these very investors understood in 2021 that they could not afford to miss out on the potential offered by digital currencies.
Although there were a lot of upheavals in the market, investors, regardless of whether they are small or big, jumped on to the bandwagon of trading Bitcoin and Ethereum, and non-fungible tokens, report Bloomberg News.
Recently, Ray Dalio revealed that just months after speculating about the digital currency’s store of wealth, he is already holding some Bitcoin and Ethereum in his investment portfolio. Founder of The Bridgewater Associates, views investments as an alternative money, especially in a world where he considers “cash as trash.” He states inflation is another factor that affects the purchasing power of people. Crypto moved gradually into mainstream finances but with mixed results.
Bloomberg News also reports ProShares was the first in the United States to launch Bitcoin futures ETF that has enticed more than $1 billion in just two days. Crypto enthusiasts still have hope that the US regulators might approve an ETF that can hold Bitcoin in 2022.
Coinbase Global Inc has a market valuation of $54 billion after it went public. Brian Armstrong, its founder, is now worth $9.7 billion as per Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The crypto marketing spree will continue in 2022 as well.
