Ex-Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan survived an alleged assassination attempt on Thursday while attending a political rally in the Gujranwala town of the park-occupied Punjab province. A bullet hit the Tehreek-e-Insaf chief in his leg and thigh. One person died in the attack, and several others were injured.
A video showed Imran waving from a truck when shots were fired, and a few of his party members got injured trying to over him. Asad Umar, Tehreek-e-Insaf secretary general, confirmed that a bullet hit the ex-Pak PM in his leg, chipping his bone, and pellets also injured his thigh.
Physical Conditions of the Injured Ones
The latest medical reports suggest that Khan is stable as he is being treated in a medical facility in Lahore and has undergone surgery.
A Suspect was Detained
In this case, a suspect has already been identified and detained from the rally. As per the police sources, he had two magazines with him which were empty, and a 9mm pistol.
Video Confession
On the other hand, a video released by the country’s Ministry of Information showed a man confessing that he attacked the former Prime Minister. The unnamed man said he didn’t regret his deeds as Imran was misleading the Pakistanis.
The man added that the people in the rally were playing loud music and shouting at the time of the call for prayer. He didn’t like that and triggered the pistol.
The officials of Punjab province said they wanted to know who made the attack and its motive.
About the Dead Person
The person who died was a close ally of Imran Khan and got his head wounded by a bullet. Injured party workers are admitted to the hospital, and some are in severe condition.
