How To Watch Live News For Free

We all know that if we don’t stay up-to-date with the news, we will be left behind in business and in life. It’s a fact of life. This is true for all of us, but especially for the ‘knowledge workers’ – the people who drive the business. We need to know what’s happening around us if we are to make the right decisions. News has made it easier for people to keep a track of global events, with the latest stories, trends, and updates. News has also been crucial in keeping us connected with the rest of the world as well as providing us with necessary information. Thus, the news is a tool of immense power, and especially in the world of the internet today, digital news media is a blessing, to say the least.

History of News and Print Media

The history of news is a history that tells us how the press evolved from a tool for power into a force for change and how it was turned into a tool against oppression. It is a history of how the press became a voice for the powerless. It is a history of how the press, under threat of government suppression, flourished as an underground newspaper in the face of censorship and surveillance. It is also a history of how, despite censorship and repression, the news media played a crucial role in the struggle for civil rights.

The rise of the modern press began in Italy in 1470 with the invention of printing by Aldus Manutius, who published the first books printed in Italy. In 1517, Martin Luther published his revolutionary book, “On the Babylonian Captivity of the Church”, which sparked the Protestant Reformation, and it was soon followed by the first English-language broadsheet, the London News-Letter.

In 1524, William Caxton brought the art of printing to England, and by 1526, there were over 300 printers in London alone. The printing press soon spread to other European countries. In 1527, a German printer named Hans Loescher set up a shop in Nuremberg, and by 1530, there were 30 printing presses in Germany. A few years later, the Dutch and French began to experiment with the press, but it was not until the 16th century that the printing press came to be used on a large scale as a tool for political change. When printing was first introduced in England, the government viewed it with suspicion because it was seen as an instrument of propaganda for radical ideas.

It was not until the Civil War that the printing press became established in England. During the war, the London Daily Courant was the only newspaper in existence, and the only source of news was the London Gazette, which was published on the authority of the Privy Council. The London Gazette was suppressed after the victory of the Parliamentarians, and it was replaced by the London Gazetteer, which was published by the government to keep track of those who had taken up arms against the king. Talking about the first newspaper, that credit goes to Corante that was published in London back in 1621 and from 1702, the trend of the regular daily newspaper began with The Daily Courant.

    Dawn of Digital Media

By the 1940s, when television was new, the first-ever regular news telecast was aired on both radio and TV by NBC. In 1941, CBS became the first station to dedicate two-time slots to the news. You can still find all these mega-news channels included in most cable subscriptions, including RCN cable TV. By the 1970s, there was Teletext in the UK. It was a system that allowed users to read the stories of their own choice. American companies noticed this technology and launched their own videotext technology, but by 1986, all these companies were close and Teletext and videotext were obsolete. After that, it was the Bulletin Board System which was prevalent in the late 80s and early 90s. This system worked to deliver news through BBS Software and Telephone modems. The 1990s was the time when online news websites began to pop up and the major surge in online news started around the same time when the first commercial web browsers were launched, i.e. Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, and by 1996, most of the news outlets had an online presence.

    News in the Current Times

As technology has evolved, so have the news mediums. With the internet now penetrated deep into the current landscape, news mediums are shifting to online means, while television, radio, and print media are going obsolete with each passing day. Watching the news on the internet has many benefits since users can get world news and the latest happenings any time anywhere while choosing to focus on stories they want to hear. Plus it’s also a cost-effective method to stay updated, and many news media houses have already observed these trends and are shifting their platforms to a more online approach.
