Researchers have discovered a network of brain cells that expresses our sense of time within experiences and memories. Let us see how does brain perceives time.
Time Perception
Time perception is a field of study within psychology, cognitive linguistics and neuroscience. It refers to the subjective experience, or sense of time. It is measured by someone’s own perception of the duration of the indefinite and unfolding of events. Furthermore, the perceived time interval between two successive events is referred to as perceived duration. Though directly experiencing or understanding another person’s perception of time is not possible.
Telling time
In order to measure time human created clock. By social contract, we agree to coordinate our own activities according to clock time. Nevertheless, your brain does not perceive the duration in time with the standardized units of minutes and hours on your wristwatch.

The specious present is the time duration wherein a state of consciousness where can experience as being in the present. However, this specious present is the prototype of all conceived times, the short duration of which we are immediately and incessantly sensible.
Neuroscientists suggest that humans do have a system, or several complementary systems, governing the human perception of time. A highly distributed system handles time perception involving the cerebral cortex, cerebellum and basal ganglia. One particular component, suprachiasmatic nucleus is responsible for the circadian rhythm, while other cell clusters appear to be capable of shorter timekeeping. According to some evidences, dedicated neurons process short duration in early sensory parts of the brain.
Understanding both the Brain and Time is a very complex process. This video is just a short attempt in bringing forward the various perspectives how brain perceives time.
