Bloomberg News reports that there has been an uproar from some of the hard-core Bitcoiners. It was related to memes over the internet that show smoking monkeys and pixelated cats that clog up the Blockchain.
Who is Casey Rodarmor?
Casey Rodarmor has recently introduced Ordinals, which is the NFT protocol. Being the creator, he is amidst angst but has assured us not to worry. He perceives that the new-fangled nonfungible tokens and inscriptions will boost the oldest Blockchain, a fresh case, and can foster utility.
However, some detractors believed that they might prove to be a snag in the regular transactions as they might crow the platform with high fees since a huge amount of data is needed for inscribing the GIFs, representations, and digital images, thereby undermining the original mission of the Bitcoin, as a peer-to-peer payment network.
Of late, the NFT collections comprising CryptoPunks and Bored Apes served as a catalyst and were predominantly based on Ethereum, and it helped make the platform the most significant commercial Blockchain worldwide. According to CryptoCompare, since February, the network has witnessed the highest seven-day average number of transactions.
Bloomberg News reports that tens of thousands of transactions that were similar to NFT were created since the protocol was launched towards the end of January, thinking that the sales would be pale as compared to the 1.38 million NFTs that were minted in January on Ethereum, as per Nansen, a blockchain data firm.
The surge in activity on the Bitcoin network is when a dramatic 50% rally by the biggest digital token has been renewed since the beginning of the year after the epic collapse of 2022.
Favorite Activities of Rodarmor
Generative art and Bitcoin have been the favorite activities of Rodarmor for a long. The programmer belonging to Emeryville, California, has been running monthly meet-ups for the San Francisco region’s Bitcoin developers. Rodamor has also experimented with generative visuals for the high-end market in Ethereum as well as live music.
While speaking at an interview, the programmer said he would describe himself as an artist but has also been into much generative digital art.
Rodamor’s Early Life
After many years of experimenting at community college, Rodamor went to the University of California, Berkeley, after dropping out of school. He graduated in 2009. After that, he was a software engineer with Google, the search engine giant, for two years. He also had a short stint at the crypto firms before he started working on the Ordinals project in January 2022.
The Ordinal Project
Ordinals in shorthand refer to ordinal numbers. With the help of the protocol, users can send and receive sats. Sats is the smallest measuring unit of Bitcoin that is recorded on Blockchain. It carries optional extra data while in ordinal progression, as revealed by Rodamor while talking in an interview.
