First, let us understand the difference between Coinbase and Coinbase pro. Coinbase has a more straightforward interface than Coinbase Pro, which is excellent for beginners trying their hand at crypto trading. It provides a simple way to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies. However, there are only a few options for placing orders. The exchange is excellent for learning the basics and honing the skills in crypto trading. On the other hand, Coinbase Pro gives more advanced trading and charting options while giving users complete control of their assets and management. 

    Crypto availability is a significant difference

    For crypto traders, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, and Tether and the most popular offerings on both Coinbase and Coinbase Pro exchanges. Both exchanges keep on expanding the options by including new cryptocurrencies. Both versions of Coinbase give access to a wide range of cryptocurrencies, about 120 varieties, which is the most among all other crypto exchanges. However, crypto investors who are interested in some smaller and less-known cryptocurrencies like Loom Network (LOOM) and Golem (GLAM) have to choose Coinbase Pro only. Otherwise, both platforms give access to a common list of cryptocurrencies.

    Fees are different

    When discussing Coinbase pro vs. Coinbase, the most obvious point is the fees you have to pay for using the platforms. In Coinbase, you pay a flat fee for smaller transactions, but fees are variable for larger transactions. There are different slabs for fees which can be $2.99 for transactions between $50 and $205 but $1.49 for bigger transactions. Additional fees are payable for some payment methods.

    For determining the trading fees, Coinbase Pro uses a maker-taker model. You pay the maker fee if you do not fill an order immediately. On immediately filling an order by an existing order, as you are taking in liquidity, you must pay the taker fee.
