Pollution and climate change are the world’s two most severe challenges today. Every country is trying to tackle climate change, pollution, and habitat loss in its way. In its efforts to combat those problems, China is committed to leveraging biotech, artificial intelligence, and big data innovation. The government of China has recently launched an environmental action program to seek climate change solution and prevent pollution with the help of advanced technology. China named it the green technology innovation system, and the entire action plan, according to the Chinese government, will be ready by 2025.
The Fundamentals of Big Data Innovation in Green Technology
The green technology innovation system will prevent pollution of all kinds, including water, soil, and air, reduce waste and protect the ecosystems.
China said it thinks the current technologies could have been better for being a part of any long-term environmental action plan.
This plan will surely need a lump sum of money, and the Chinese government will try to involve financial institutions and enterprises to support big data innovation in green technology.
Green technology banks and tax incentives will also back the new system introduced as a climate change solution.
The Purpose of the New Plan
China’s Ministry of Science and Technology stated that the fundamental aim of this system is to help the country become carbon neutral. Currently, China produces the maximum greenhouse gas in the world.
The new plan aims to use technology and science so systematically that addressing various environmental challenges becomes more effortless. The new system will measure the impact of temperature rise in different regions and identify pollution sources, drug-resistant bacteria, and harmful chemicals.
Decarbonization technologies in industrial sectors like steel, thermal power, cement, and agriculture are also a priority for the government, upon which they will conduct quality research under the new system.
The technologies of carbon capture, carbon storage, and its utilization for preventing greenhouse gases from getting inside the atmosphere are also a part of this action plan.
The COP27
China introduced the new plan just before COP27 will take place in Egypt with prominent leaders across the globe. The Asian country will also send a delegation to COP27, whose representatives focus on raising $100bn to fund the industrialized countries annually to help undeveloped nations prevent pollution and seek climate change solution.
China: The Highest Greenhouse Gas Emitter
China is leading the world in greenhouse gas emissions, generating CO2 of as much as ten gigatons a year. The country is working hard to shift to electric vehicles more and more, but its overall carbon emissions are still too high.
President Xi Jinping, 2020, revealed his plans to make China carbon-free by 2060, and he estimated that the country’s carbon emissions will take a new height by 2030. This planned action for climate change solution was the first ever significant commitment by China.
World Leaders in China
The pledge somehow managed to receive positive reactions, but the global leaders are not very pleased with China’s recent influence in the sector of the latest technologies.
In October, the US government banned some tech firms from developing facilities in China for a decade, whereas the UK administration warned the country about utilizing technology to enhance its global influence.
Conclusion
However, implementing this big data innovation in the new advanced technology system will be challenging for China as droughts are feared in November in southern China, leading to challenges for the administration, including less hydropower generation. More challenges are feared to come China’s way regarding southern and central China bushfires.
