China’s top health official has emphasized that skin-to-skin touch is how Monkeypox spreads. Additionally, he advised people to use disposable toilet covers when using hotels or washrooms. The post received much negative feedback on social media, and many people branded Wu’s remarks as racist.
How to Prevent Monkeypox?
The chief Epidemiologist recommended that people avoid skin-to-skin interaction with outsiders or individuals brought back from overseas. He also advised people to use disposable toilet covers in public hotels or restrooms.
The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that there have been 23 fatalities and 60,320 instances of Monkeypox worldwide with laboratory confirmation. Australia’s chief medical officer Paul Kelly says the disease is not as infectious as the coronavirus, and in most cases, the signs and symptoms are moderate.
Kelly stated that the rash and flu-like signs associated with Monkeypox generally go away on their own within 2-4 weeks without requiring unique treatments. Before moving toward other body parts, like the palms and the soles, the rash generally starts on the face. Furthermore, the vaginal and genital or anal regions are mostly infected by this disease. The rashes might look different from person to person. They can resemble pimples, blisters, or ulcers. Chills, fever, headaches, body pains, swollen lymph nodes, and fatigue are among the symptoms people frequently experience.
