Aaron Judge, the Yankees outfielder, continued his historic march in the world of baseball by hitting the sixtieth home run in a season on Monday. The list of baseball players hitting sixty home runs in a season included five members till now. They are Barry Bonds, Roger Maris, Sammy Sosa, Babe Ruth, and Mark McGwire. Aaron Judge now joins the club.
The Record and the Win
Aaron turned right-hander Wil Crowe’s sinker on for a 430-feet drive to get the sixtieth home run. Judge and Babe Ruth are in a tie now about who made the record in 1927. The Yankees slugger is just one short before he ties Rodger Maris, who made the record of sixty-one home runs in 1961.
Yankees got a 9-8 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the match. Aaron’s home run started a ninth-inning rally, and Giancarlo Stanton delivered the ending grand slam.
Judge’s Reactions
Yankees’ All-star New York slugger didn’t seem to be much cheerful after touching the milestone. However, he took it as an absolute honor to be named with those legendary baseball players. Nevertheless, Judge thinks he has just started and has a long way to go. He said he does not care about numbers. He also mentioned the need to keep his calm, stay focused and prepare for the following games.
Other Records by Judge
Judge had a record of fifty-nine home runs earlier, which was the highest in the history of AL by a right-hander.
Judge already has some other records in his possession as well. He made another record Tuesday in terms of average, and he has been having an excellent season in 2022.
This season still has fifteen games left, leaving plenty of opportunities for Aaron Judge to threaten the record made by Maris. Even the sons of Maris, Kevin Maris, and Roger Maris Junior praised Aaron Judge heartily.
