A Beginner’s Guide to Dryer Cleaning: 9 Steps to Follow

If your dryer isn’t working as efficiently as it used to, or if it’s taking longer to dry your clothes, it might be time for a cleaning. A good cleaning can not only restore your dryer to its original glory, but it can also help it to work more efficiently and help your clothes last longer.

Do you need to clean your dryer?

If your dryer isn’t working as efficiently as it used to, or if it’s taking longer to dry your clothes, it might be time for a cleaning. A good cleaning can not only restore your dryer to its original glory, but it can also help it to work more efficiently and help your clothes last longer.

You should also consider dryer cleaning several times yearly as a preventive maintenance measure.

How often should you clean your dryer?

You should clean your dryer every few months to keep it working correctly. If you use your dryer frequently, you might need to clean it more often. Moreover, specific parts of the dryer, like the lint screens, require more cleaning than others.

What are the steps to cleaning your dryer?

So how do you clean a dryer? Here are a few simple steps to follow:

    1. Unplug the dryer and remove the lint screen. The lint screen is usually located on the front of the dryer. To remove it, simply pull it out.
    2. Clean the lint screen. Rinse the lint screen with hot water to remove any built-up fabric softener or lint.
    3. Use a vacuum attachment to clean the lint trap. The lint trap is inside the dryer, usually near the lint screen.
    4. Vacuum the dryer vent. The dryer vent is the hose that connects the dryer’s back to the exhaust duct. Use your vacuum attachment to remove any lint or debris that may be clogging the vent.
    5. Clean the exhaust duct. The exhaust duct is the metal pipe that runs from the back of the dryer to the exhaust vent. Disconnect the duct from the dryer and vacuum out any lint or debris.
    6. Vacuum the inside of the dryer. Use your vacuum attachment to remove lint or debris from the dryer drum.
    7. Wipe down the inside of the dryer. Use a damp cloth to wipe down the inside of the dryer drum.
    8. Vacuum the dryer motor. The dryer motor is located beneath the dryer drum. Use your vacuum attachment to remove any debris or lint that may have accumulated on the motor.
    9. Reassemble the dryer and plug it back in. Once you have finished cleaning the dryer, reassemble it and plug it back into the power outlet.
