The Ian hurricane is threatening to roar again on the northern shore of Charleston and cause new destruction in South California.
According to Meteorologist Mike Doll at AccuWeather Inc., a commercial forecaster, the storm is expected to drive a wave of water into the city up to 3 to 6 feet and then go down to 20 centimeters (8 inches) of rain.
Power outages are expected to reach far in the interior mainland because the hurricane wind shakes the trees and power lines throughout the region. According to Doll, the storm is expected to cause higher flooding as the coast surges, with water going up as much as 10 feet. The surge could also go up to o 6 feet around Myrtle Beach.
The damages will be severe in the South Carolina rains flood the inland but may not be like the devastation in Florida, where it will take months to assess the actual cost of damage.
As per Doll, this hurricane will be the most devastating in the US. It may not be as bad as the Katrina hurricane, but the coastline of Southwest Florida will change like never before.
President Biden said on Thursday that early estimates suggest a high death toll as he was getting reports of major loss of life.
Orlando Airport to Reopen Friday
Orlando International airport will resume its flights on Friday at noon. Walt Disney World Resort will resume its operations in the theme park immediately starting Friday as threatening rain and winds move north.
Hurricane Ian’s wind intensified to about 137 kilometers or 85 miles per hour near 185 miles away from South Charleston, as per an update from the National Hurricane Centre.
The remaining port in Florida is expected to reopen on Saturday in New York at 8 pm. The State is sending food, blankets, water, ice, pet supplies, and tarps to help people who have been devastated by the storm, as informed by Governor Ron DeSantis in a press conference on Thursday.
DeSantis said that the people impacted by the hurricane would bounce back, and the State would make sure they make the arrangements.
