What Would Happen If You Didn’t Drink Water?

About 80% of a person’s body is made up of water. Water is required for the efficient functioning of every organ, cell, and tissue in our bodies, therefore getting enough of it every day is critical.

Make sure you get six to eight glasses of water; otherwise, dehydration can lead to a variety of issues.

Maintaining a sufficient amount of water in your body is critical to your survival. You’ll only be able to survive for a few days if you don’t have access to water.

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) used survey data to figure out how much water Americans drink on a daily basis. In a 2005 study based on this data, they published guidelines called appropriate intakes (AIs).

These instructions are still used by doctors today. They are as follows:

Men should drink 3.7 litres per day, with about 3 litres (about 13 cups) in the form of liquids.
Women should drink 2.7 litres per day, with about 2.2 litres (about 9 cups) coming from beverages.
If you have trouble remembering to drink water during the day, fill a water bottle in the morning and keep it close by to keep track of how much you’re drinking. Drinking water from water-dense fruits and vegetables like cucumbers, melons, berries, lemons, and limes is also a good method to increase your fluid consumption.
