With the United States and Germany announcing military assistance to Ukraine, other nations are joining in to help Ukraine as Russia’s assault continues. Many countries, including Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, and Netherland, are sending military aid, including Stinger air defense missiles, artillery ammunition, and anti-tank weapons, to Ukraine amidst the Russia Ukraine Crisis. Let us find out how other countries are coming forward to help Ukraine.

Russia and Ukraine war – Russia broadens assault as Arms and Ammunition pour into Ukraine

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has sought the assistance of arms and ammunition for Ukraine military equipment from the United States and other nations.

Aside from the United States, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization or NATO members, and countries belonging to the European Union have promptly supplied weapons to Ukraine to counter Russian army weapons.

    United States

The US continues to offer security assistance to Ukraine. In this move, President Joe Biden has extended an additional $350 million from the Defense Department inventories as stated by a senior US defense official for military assistance.

The aid is in form of anti-armor, body armor equipment, small arms, and other ammunitions for the frontline warriors that are taking strikes of Russia head-on, as said by John F Kirby, the Pentagon Press Secretary. As of February 28th, that brings the total assistance from the US for Ukraine aid to $1 billion over one year.

    NATO nations

The NATO allies were found to send thousands of small arms, ammunition stocks, anti-tank weapons, and air-defense missiles. Aside from military aid, the NATO members extend humanitarian medical assistance and financial help. These countries include Belgium, the Czech Republic, Canada, France, Estonia, Greece, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, and United Kingdom aside from the US.

In the Russia and Ukraine war, Ukraine has received Javelin missiles anti-craft missiles from the NATO allies aside from financial aid in the form of millions of euros. Albania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Iceland, Hungary, Denmark, North Macedonia, Norway, and Spain are helping. Romania, Poland, and Croatia have opened their borders for Ukrainian refugees.

    Australia

Prime Minister Australia Scott Morrison said he intends to deepen military assistance to Ukraine by working through channels and offering weapons.

    Germany

Germany had a historical policy never to send weapons to conflict zones. However, with the ongoing Ukraine invasion, it reversed this policy. It said that this war could imperil Europe the post-World War II order. It was planning to send to Ukraine 500 Stinger anti-aircraft defense systems and 1000 anti-tank weapons. The government has urged Estonia to send nine howitzers and the Netherlands to send 400 rocket-propelled grenade launchers to Ukraine.

    France

French President Emmanuel Macron has sent additional defense equipment to Ukraine and offered fuel support.

    More nations,

Belgium assured it would send 2000 machine guns and 3800 tons of fuel.
