The Power of Positive Thinking

    Most people live their life in a habit. They think the same thoughts, they perform the same actions they live by the same emotions but they secretly expect their lives to change. But how one thinks, how one acts, and how one feels is their personality. The personality is known to create one’s personal reality. So let’s suppose that an average person thinks sixty to seventy thousand fleeting thoughts in a day and almost ninety percent of those thoughts are similar to the day before, same thoughts always lead to the same choices and the same choices always lead to the same behaviors. The same behaviors create the same experiences and the same experiences produce the same emotions. Those same emotions then drive the very same thoughts, thus pushing one into a perpetual cycle of monotony. So the hardest part about change, in creating the life one wants or being defined by a vision of the future instead of a memory of the past is not making the choices that one did the day before. The unknown is the perfect place to create from. The void, the unpredictability, the uncertainty create a sense of discomfort which propels others to grow.

    Positive thinking can be practiced and like anything that is rehearsed, the more it is repeated, the better one gets at it. According to its definition, positive thinking is a mental attitude in which one expects good and favorable results.in other words, positive thinking is a process of creating thoughts that promote an optimal and opportune reality. Simply put, it is like nourishing the mind with the quality energy it needs to function at the zenith of its abilities. 


    Steps on how to Think Positively:

    1. Replacement

    In this context, replacement is the act of substituting negative thoughts with positive thoughts, immediately upon their inception. Simply put, as soon as a negative thought enters the mind, replace it with a positive one. This practice would help one to exercise one’s mind to become more constructive about the events happening in one’s life. Thoughts are things and those thoughts sometimes may lead to exactly what they are suggesting, no matter how unlikely that reality may be. Therefore replacing negative thoughts with positive ones would yield more positive results.

    2. Create a Mantra

    As per definition, a mantra is a statement or slogan repeated frequently. Words are much more powerful than we think and slowly but surely we start to believe in the words we tell ourselves on a regular basis. Creating a mantra means creating a phrase or a slogan that one can repeat to themselves whenever they are feeling lost, depressed, or down. Creating a mantra and repeating it frequently would create a belief in the mantra which would in turn help in its manifestation.

    3. Refusing to Stop at Failure

    Failure is a state of mind and to believe that failure is the end is a choice. Failure is only finite if one accepts to stop trying. Therefore in failure one is either learning to accomplish what one is meant to accomplish or learning that one should use their skills elsewhere. Refusing failure means continuing to manifest the truth at any cost. Changing the perception of failure will create positive avenues for the mind

    4. Accepting one’s Growth

    Accepting one’s growth is coming to terms with the natural phenomena of change. As one’s dreams are manifested, one will dream bigger and different from what one once did. It is advisable not to resist oneself by living a dream that is outdated to oneself. This means not clinging to old dreams out of habit or out of the desire to impress other people or to keep a consistent image of oneself.

    5. Being Thankful

    Showing gratitude for the things that we have is a vital step to positive thinking. A great way to begin optimistic thoughts is to be cognizant of the things that one has been blessed with so far. From the people in one’s life to the possessions they have owned to one’s health, it is important to be thankful in order to begin one’s journey in positive thinking. Enumerating the things one is thankful for may even remind one that the state of mind which has been negative for some time is only temporary and that one has everything that they once wished for now.

    6. Positive Actions

    This simply implies partaking in small positive actions throughout the day. These actions will accumulate and encourage a sense of ease and even accomplishment despite a not-so-great day. Especially when one’s mind has consistent and self-sabotaging thoughts, doing positive or partaking in constructive actions in spite of how one feels will spur a sense of optimism and contentedness within oneself.

    The power of positive thinking and positive thoughts encourage healthy relationships, a productive lifestyle as well as an encouraging attitude to one’s peers. This is why knowing how to think positively is such an important factor in the journey of one becoming their best selves.
