Procter & Gamble also known as P&G was founded in 1837 by James Gamble and William Procter. This multinational firm specializes in consumer goods like hygiene, personal care, consumer health products, beverages, snacks, and food. It has its headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. The current CEO and chairman of P&G are David S. Taylor and the director is Scott Cook.

Patricia A. Woertz, Meg Whitman, Christine McCarthy, Nelson Peltz, W. James McNerney, Jr., Terry J. Lundgren, Joseph Jimenez, Scott Cook, Amy L. Chang, Angela Braly, Frank Blake, and David S. Taylor are 12 members in the board of directors of P&G. The company is a member of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition.

Television and Radio Production

In the 1930s, P&G sponsored and produced radio serial dramas. The series by the firm was known as soap operas because the company was famous for detergent. “Young Doctor Malone”, “Texas”, “Somerset”, “Search for Tomorrow”, “Our Private World”, “Lovers and Friends”, “Guiding Light”, “From These Roots”, “The First Hundred Years”, “The Edge of Night”, “The Catlins”, “The Brighter Day”, “As the World Turns and Another World” are some of the names produced by the firm in the past. The production segment of the company is known as Procter & Gamble Entertainment (PGE) since 2013. “Down to Earth”, the first comedy series by TBS was produced by P&G and ran from 1984-87. They produced the Peoples Choice Award in 2017. In 2007, they partnered with the now-defunct Cookie Jar Group to produce the Flash-animated children’s series “Will and Dewitt”. P&G funded a six-episode series, “Activate”, a 6 episode series that was founded in 2019 by P&G on National Geographic. It focused on sustainability, inequality, and poverty in conjunction with Radical Media. In February 2020, P&G agreed to a long-form series deal with Stone Village Television and even joined Imagine Documentaries’ five project slates including Mars 2080. 

Sponsorships by P&G

In 2008, they sponsored Tag Records. P&G gave a contract worth $100,000 to the Cycles 1 winner through 3 of Canada’s Next Top Model. They even support novellas that are in Spanish by advertising in various networks: Univision, Unimas, Telemundo, Gala vision, Estrella TV, and Azteca America. In 2012, it sponsored 150 athletes at the Summer Olympics held in London. In 2014, they even sponsored the Winter Olympics and will do it again in the 2022 Winter Olympics held in Beijing. The firm has sponsored or developed many online communities including Women.com and BeingGirl.com.

P&G Initiatives during the Pandemic and Crisis

The people of P&G have taken steps and came forward for delivering each of their priorities that guide their choices and actions at the time of crisis. Not only do they protect their work environment but their people as well. Even during the covid pandemic they constantly take guidance and information from medical professionals and accordingly take safety measures that are robust for their employees worldwide. These measures include the use of masks, distancing, shift rotation, increased disinfection, and temperature scans. P&G is providing their employees with PPE and at the same time donating the PPE Kits to front-line workers, health facilities, and communities. Day-to-day and especially, during a crisis, the people of P&G are given benefits of paid leaves, a work arrangement that is flexible, comprehensive medical care as well as financial support. All these resources are provided to the employees even when their immediate family is sick and requires proper care. Not only do they pay attention to creating a portfolio that focuses on health and hygiene but even donates these products to the community.

P&G even partnered with a relief organization that is leading globally. The United Way, the Korea disaster relief association, One Foundation, The China Youth Development Foundation, Matthew 25: Ministries, Feeding America, AmeriCares and Direct Relief, International Federation of Red Cross, etc, are some of the organizations that P&G is involved with. Supporting communities, serving consumers, and protecting P&G people, in short, is the priority of P&G.


The annual revenue for P&G for 2021 was $76.118B, a 7.28% increase from 2020. The gross profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2021, was $9.155B, a 4.56% increase year-over-year. The operating income for the twelve months ending June 30, 2021, was $17.986B, a 14.52% increase year-over-year. Procter & Gamble shares outstanding for the quarter ending June 30, 2021, were 2.573B, a 2.01% decline year-over-year.
