Covid-19: Do We Finally Have A Vaccine Now?

The search for an effective Covid-19 vaccine has seen some remarkable changes, with the announcement of vaccines like Pfizer and BioNTech. These covid vaccines can prevent more than 90% of people from getting infected with this virus.

Why do we need a Vaccine?

To get back to our normal life, we need a vaccine. There is a vast majority of people who are still vulnerable to coronavirus infection. The pandemic restrictions in our daily lives are preventing more people from dying due to this infectious virus.

What has Pfizer/BioNTech achieved?

Both the companies Pfizer and the BioNTech are working hard towards vaccine development. These companies were the first to share data from the final stages of testing – known as a phase 3 trial.

About 43,000 people have been given the vaccine, and no safety concerns have been raised. This one of the most historic development in the Covid-19 virus spread history.

Availability of the Vaccine

Pfizer believes it will be able to supply 50 million doses by the end of this year, and around 1.3 billion by the end of 2021. The UK should get 10 million doses by the end of 2020, with a further 30 million doses already ordered.

Is Protection Guaranteed From the Vaccine?

Not everyone responds the same to immunization. People will be watching the results in older people closely because they are most at risk from the virus.
