Claudine Gay is Chosen to Serve as the First Black President of Harvard University
The university announced Claudine Gay as the 30th president of Harvard on Thursday. Gay is the second woman and the first person of color to serve as president of Harvard University. Gay, whose parents were immigrants from Haiti, earned a Ph.D. in government from Harvard in 1998. According to the Harvard Gazette, she also won the Toppan Prize for the finest political science dissertation.

In an effort to “halt the puppy mill-to-pet store pipeline and deter abusive breeders,” Governor Kathy Hochul signed a measure on Thursday that forbids the sale of rabbits, cats and dogs at retail pet stores, according to governor’s office.
