The Worst Types of People to Date: How to Avoid the Toxic Relationship

We’ve all been there. You’re out at a bar or on an online dating site, and you come across someone who seems perfect. They’re attractive, engaging, and seem to have their life together. You start spending more time with them, and eventually, things progress to the point where you’re dating. But then something goes wrong. They turn out to be completely different than they seemed in the beginning. They become possessive, demanding, and controlling. Suddenly you’re in a toxic relationship that’s doing nothing but harming you emotionally and mentally.

What are the worst personality types to date? How can you avoid ending up in a toxic relationship with them? Here are the five personality types to watch out for:

    The narcissist

Narcissists are always looking for validation, and they need to be the center of attention and do whatever it takes to make sure that happens. Narcissists are also manipulative and often emotionally abusive. If you date a narcissist, you can expect to be constantly belittled and devalued.

Narcissists are manipulators. If you’re always looking for approval or trying to please others, a narcissist will see that as a sign that you’re someone they can control. To avoid being drawn in by a narcissist, be firm in your boundaries and never let them take control of the relationship.

    The sociopath

Sociopaths are charming and charismatic, but they’re also manipulative and callous. They often have a history of criminal activity or other problems with the law. Sociopaths are also known for being pathological liars. If you date a sociopath, you can expect to be lied to, cheated on, and manipulated.

The best way to avoid dating a sociopath is to be aware of the warning signs. If someone you’re dating is constantly lying to you, or if they seem unable to empathize with others, it’s time to move on.

Sociopaths often lack a conscience, but they can mimic emotions and present well. That makes it difficult to tell if you’re dating one because they seem like everyone else.

    The commitment-phobe

Commitment-phobes are people who are terrified of commitment. They will avoid relationships at all costs, and they often have a history of breaking hearts. If you’re dating a commitment-phobe, be prepared for many games and manipulation.

Commitment-phobes can be very charming and persuasive when they want something. Don’t let their sweet words fool you – they’re not interested in anything serious. The best way to deal with a commitment-phobe is to walk away before things get too complicated or emotionally draining.

    The control freak

If someone needs to be on top of every situation, they may be a control freak. These people are often perfectionists, and they need to be in charge of everything. They can be incredibly demanding, and they could have a history of emotional or physical abuse.

If you’re dating a control freak, be prepared for them to micromanage your every move. They’ll want to know where you are at all times, and they’ll never let you make any decisions without their input. The best way to deal with a control freak is to set boundaries early on and stick to them firmly. Don’t let them manipulate or emotionally blackmail you – walk away if necessary.

    The abuser

Abusers are the most dangerous type of people to date. They often have a history of violence, and they’re experts at manipulation and control. If you’re dating an abuser, be prepared for them to try to isolate you from your friends and family. They will also gaslight you, a form of mental abuse that causes you to doubt your memory and perception.

If you’re in an abusive relationship, get out as soon as possible. These relationships never end well, and the sooner you can get away from an abuser, the better.

No one deserves to be in a toxic or abusive relationship. If you find yourself attracted to one of these personality types, walking away is essential. There is plenty of other fish in the sea, and you deserve to find someone who will treat you with respect.
